Archer Pellet Guns

Single-pump and multi-pump pellet guns form a small and declining part of the pellet gun market, at least in number of models. But they have some devoted fans and a number of unique benefits.

 

The most popular pellet gun of all time—the Crosman 760—is a multi-pump gun. It has introduced generations of Americans to pellet gun shooting. Archer Pellet Guns also has other models from Crosman, Daisy, Benjamin and Sheridan.

These air guns are generally small and light with good handling and reasonable prices. A natural, tight shooting hold is used with these pellet guns. The ability to produce different muzzle velocities via different numbers of pumps between shots is also often given as an advantage for multi-pump pellet rifles.

Why aren't there more models available? Multi-pump pellet guns have been left behind in recent airgun developments by manufacturers. No new models have appeared for many years, although they continue to be sold. Pumping these guns can be tough for some, particularly to achieve the maximum muzzle velocity and during over-extended shooting sessions. They are also not very scope-friendly; it's difficult to pump most models with a scope fitted, and many don't even have standard airgun scope rails in their basic configuration.

 

Why did we assigned them reasonable RateAGun™ scores? We use the scores to highlight the level of difficulty in shooting each gun. The lower the score, the easier the gun can be to shoot.

Multi-pump pellet rifles remain a viable choice if you can accept their limitations. They can also be fun to own and shoot just because they're different from your average pellet rifle. Many single-pump models are ideal for target shooting.
