Archer Pellet Guns

Spring-powered pellet guns are by far the most popular type on the market today. They are powerful, accurate and require no power source apart from the shooter to cock them. Lots of them achieve the popular 1,000fps (or more) muzzle velocity, a favorite gun characteristic of pellet gun company manufacturers. These pellet guns are generally not expensive for what they offer. Archer Pellet Guns has guns from Gamo, Crosman and other major vendors.

For most of us, these are the best type of pellet gun for hunting, and they can be fine for plinking and informal target shooting.

Spring-powered pellet guns are usually large and heavy. Cocking is tough and can require too much effort for some shooters. Unlike other types of pellet gun, they recoil—both backward AND forward—when fired. They require a special, light hold that is unnatural to many shooters. Spring pellet guns require consistency to shoot accurately; they make heavy demands on the shooter.

 

That forward recoil can destroy non-airgun rated scopes, so spring-powered pellet rifles cannot be used with firearms scopes. These pellet guns need very strong scope mounts, too.

Why did we assigned them generally high RateAGun™ scores? We use the scores to highlight the level of difficulty in shooting each gun. The higher the score, the more difficult the gun can be to shoot.
